The SOFRA Dinner Experience
 
The flavors of the Eastern Mediterranean come alive at Terre Lente.
 
In Turkish, sofra refers to the table prepared for a communal meal. But it is more than just a table; it embodies the entire space and experience, where people gather and share food. Conversations spark, connections deepen, and the inevitable unfolds: nourishment, both physical and metaphorical. That’s why sofra is the home of soul food.
 
Join us for a memorable evening of shared dining and conversation, featuring six soulful vegetarian dishes that journey from Aegean specialties to Middle Eastern touches.
 
The price includes all dishes. We’ll be serving Italian specialty wine and, for the curious, traditional Turkish rakı.

Exploring “What makes me feel rooted in Amsterdam (or in the Netherlands or beyond)?”
 
As the evening unfolds, we’ll open a conversation that connects our tables. We are delighted to welcome photographer Laura Ponchel and writer Hicham Sabir, who recently exhibited their collaborative work “The Extraordinary Lives of Ordinary Amsterdammers - Wallenbuurt.” They will share what they witnessed and experienced as they entered into the lives of Amsterdammers while creating this exhibition. Following their sharing, we’ll move into a dialogue at our tables, exploring together: “What makes me feel rooted in Amsterdam (or in the Netherlands or beyond)?”
 
About the Chef
The dinner is crafted by Yeliz Mert, a lover of all things Mediterranean. With roots on the Aegean coast of Turkey and in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria, she draws on her rich culinary heritage to create dishes that celebrate the flavors, traditions, and stories of these lands. Guided by a deep belief in food as a connector of people and cultures, Yeliz brings a heartfelt, home-cooked touch to every plate.
